Products and Methods to Avoid Around Pets
Rodent poison baits pose serious risk to dogs and cats, both through direct consumption and secondary poisoning from eating a poisoned rodent. Mothballs contain naphthalene or paradichlorobenzene, both toxic to pets. Never use mothballs as a pest deterrent in areas accessible to animals. Essential oil products marketed as natural pest repellents can be toxic to cats, particularly those containing tea tree oil, peppermint oil, or citrus oil in concentrated forms.
